Earlier this week, one of SCFPSA’s members was in a “car sandwich” and reached out to our community for help locating a temporary vehicle while her insurance company sorted things out. Fortunately, she was unharmed in the accident, and the members of our community quickly flooded her private Facebook comment offering up their second vehicles.
As there are more of us connected by the SCFPSA email list than linked on the Private Facebook Page, I wanted to show this example of how well our community takes care of one another for those who might need help or encouragement in similar situations or elsewhere. If you find yourself in a jam, there are three ways to put a call out for help:
- Add your request to the Private Facebook Page (Please remember, we do not disclose any intimate or private information about our First Responders on this page, so if your request for help is sensitive in nature, please see the third point on this list).
- Not on Facebook ? Use the contact form on the SCFPSA website or reply to the emailed newsletters to have SCFP Spouse and Communication Lead Katie make the request on your behalf. You can also contact Katie to share #SYSF (Share Your Shit Fridays), in which SCFPSA Members are encouraged to promote their business or volunteer efforts.
- Contact any member of the Outreach Team. These ladies – two spouses from every platoon – are committed to confidentially helping members of our community find resources or even just talk things through. They can present problems or gaps in resources to our community at large on your behalf, but will never disclose names or identifying information without clear permission. (Please contact us if you don’t have the password to view the Outreach page – hint: there is only one password to view all private pages on this site)
