#SYSF (Share Your Shit Fridays) is an initiative to build community throughout our department families. All SCFP Spouses and Members and invited and encouraged to share the goings-on in their worlds so we can better support one another. Big or small, you are welcome to post in the Facebook group, add a comment to this blog post, or use the contact page to have your message reported on your behalf to our 100+ SCFPSA emailing list.
This Week:
SCFP Spouse Katie gives thanks to the other SCFP Spouses that helped her with her Christmas shopping. She writes:
“This year I was really happy with a few Christmas gifts I purchased for family members from SCFP Spouses. My mom LOVED the antique necklace Amy Leonghelped me pick out from her collection, Vintage Jewelry Girls YEG. My kids were very happy to gift their teachers Courtney Bellanger’s fragrant soaps and knitted soap caddies from her family-owned business, Lace and Charcoal, and were able to identify them by smell even after I wrapped them and forgot to write down names on the packages. The messy bun toques Joanne Nozack knit for my children are a perfect fit, and my youngest has worn hers almost every day since xmas (my eldest and I fight over hers, which fits us both, so it looks like I’m going to have to order another from Knottylove).
In the new year, I’m looking forward to trying out Shelley Montmurro’s Little Sweatshop HIIT class this Sunday (a thing I’ve been “meaning to do” for over ten years now, but this year WILL be the year I finally meet my biceps). Alison Hawkins has helped me find a more individualized skin care routine through her expertise in Rodan + Fields, and a cupcake-decorating themed sleepover party for my almost-ten year old is in the works with assistance from Courtney Pytyckof The Sweet Artisan.”
SCFP Spouse Shelley reminds us that every Sunday her gym offers a free 9am Hiit class for all family members:
“Remember that Sunday mornings at 9am there’s a FREE hiit class!! 4 of our coaches are Strathcona Fire guys. And we have so many amazing fire families here…..come play with us and get a healthy lifestyle in your 2019 goal-crushing!!”
SCFP Spouse Roisin shares:
“I’ve been spending some time and printing off some new recent pictures for my hubbies locker! I try to do this everytime they switch stations… is there anything you guys do to send a little bit of home to work with your spouse?
Also I made this cool sign for Iain for Christmas and I have to figure out where to put it! Suggestions welcome!”
A few of us online liked her sign so much, we are interested in having her make on for our own families. If you would like to order a similar sign from Roisin, contact her through her business, Raw Sheen Designs.
And SCFP Spouse Brittany looks for recommendations following a big move:
“We are moving to the country this week ahhh!
Packing is never ending.
All you country living folks let me know if you have any tips or tricks of the trade, local vendors out there, or great little places to go. We are going to be on range road 214. Mostly just tell me how not to be afraid of the dark.”
If you have any insider (outsider?) tips for Brittany, or if you would like to introduce yourself as a new neighbour, feel free to find her in our Facebook group or send a message through this site’s contact form and we will connect you.
