Following the losses Central Alberta First Responder communities have suffered in the last few years, Edmonton Fire is ramping up their educational programming for members and families. A member from their organization has reached out to invite SCFPSA to a series of three educational sessions starting on Monday night:
We started some information nights and if you’d like to check it out we have one running Monday 6:30-8:30. A lot of firefighters say “we wish our wives knew about all this” after they get any mental health training. Main topics are recognizing signs and symptoms in husbands, how to talk to them, what to expect after an adverse event, history of our program, short term/long term goals.”
The first session is taking place Monday, March 4th at 6:30 – 8:30 (doors open at 6pm), at 10420 – 157 Training academy. Edmonton Fire and SCFP Spouses are welcome to attend with or without their First Responder. Attendance is limited, so please use the contact form below if you would like to be added to the guest list. Other SCFPSA Spouses have confirmed their attendance, so you won’t be alone!
