Interested in watching the Pipes and Drums competition at the Sherwood Park Highland Gathering this Saturday, July 13th? Here is the timeline for these events as listed by the Alberta Society of Pipers and Drummers:
Gates open at 8:30am: FREE ADMISSION!!
Starting at 9am: Solo Performances
Starting at 2pm: Band Performances
4pm: Massed band performance by all competitors.
Come out and support all the competitors, including Strathcona Firefighters Pipes and Drums! If you’ve never witnessed a massed band performance, it is truly awesome. The Gathering is being held at Broadmoor Lake Park in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
And here’s a clarifying note Roisin left on the SCFP Spouse Association’s Facebook Group:
“Hey Spouses!
There has been some confusion regarding the posters that have been seen around town (not made by our band).
To clarify, our Pipes and Drums Band will be hosting the “Kid Zone” which will be from 8:30am – 4:30pm at Broadmoor Lake. During the DAY the event is 100% FREE FAMILY FUN. This will have Traditional Highland Games available for kids to try, face painting (by donation), Princess visits and Bouncy Castles.

Sherwood Park Highland Gathering
In the evening, the Strathcona Firefighters Pipes and Drums Association is hosting an after party. The tickets are $20 and kids are welcome. There will be live music, food trucks and Beer Garden. It is being held outside at Broadmoor lake in a big tent 6pm-11pm. All profit from the evening event will be going towards our band, so get your tickets to show your support!
