Georgia Gifts
From the family:
“Details of the donation are well explained in the attached video but the short story is, my late mother-in-law was a residential school survivor and near the end of her life became homeless and accessed shelters as needed. She was also a notoriously excellent gift giver so after she passed away my wife and I started this project with our kids in memory of her. Every Christmas for the last 3 years my family and I put together Christmas care packages for Edmonton’s homeless population. The gift bags usually include socks, mitts, hats, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hot paws, and a treat like a candy cane. We also try to have hot coffee and fresh donuts or muffins when we go to Boyle Street to hand out the gifts however due to COVID, that part is still up in the air.
The first year we started with only 25 gift bags and have increased the goal every year. This year we are hoping to put together 250 gift bags and they typically cost around 12 dollars per package.
If you can offer any financial support, e-transfers can be sent to georgiagifts55@gmail.com. If you have any ideas on how we can connect with vendors or potential donors, that would also be very much appreciated!
Thanks again and Happy Holidays,”
