Strathcona Honour Guard has asked we share the below message, with hopes as many of our families as possible will participate in observing the 2021 Annual Strathcona County Fallen Firefighters Memorial March. The March starts at Salisbury Composite High School, and the ceremony takes place at Station 1 (in case you are unsure where the memorial is). Fire families are invited to toast the fallen at 70 Acre Brew Co, after the event. Local 2461 has ordered a wreath for the SCFP Spouse’s association to lay, and Stephanie Nixon has been asked to represent us as she performs quite a bit of work behind the scenes for Strathcona County Honour Guard.
Please see the message below:
Good afternoon,
Please find attached the 2021 Strathcona County Fallen Firefighters Annual Memorial March Invitation.
We are excited to bring back the march in a more traditional sense this year including a march down Sherwood Drive. We are hoping for a good showing this year with a large parade. To compartmentalize RSVP’s not all recipients are in this thread, but we have invited many Alberta Fire, EMS and Police Services to attend and of course the families of our fallen. There will also be a helmet and flag presentation for Deputy Chief (ret.) Barry Tilley who passed away last year. Please share this with any/all within your groups of the department.
Class A with cap and appropriately mounted medals according to SOP.
Date: September 11, 2021
Muster: 1000 hours at the Salisbury Composite High School west parking lot
Step off: 1030 hours
Toast to the Fallen to follow at 70 Acre Brewing (#310, 6000 Buckingham Drive, Sherwood Park).
Thank you and we hope to see many of you there. As always, reach out to any guard member if you are looking to get in on some practices to brush up on your marching beforehand.
